RIA FORMOSA
A Musical Multimedia show by João Cuña
(Portuguese guitar and acoustic guitar)
An original musical and multimedia show inspired by the Ria Formosa, created by João Cuña — composer, musician and marine biologist, a graduate of the University of the Algarve.
A musical and audiovisual experience of 8 instrumental pieces for Portuguese guitar and acoustic guitar, performed solo, lasting about 50 minutes and presented in three parts:
Part I
DISCOVERING THE RIA FORMOSA
(3 songs)
The impact of discovering and getting to know the Ria Formosa by air, land and water.
“FLY TO DISCOVER THE RIA FORMOSA”
“WALK TO DISCOVER THE RIA FORMOSA”
“SAIL TO DISCOVER THE RIA FORMOSA”
Part II
“MY” RIA FORMOSA
(3 songs)
The musician’s “appropriation” of the Ria Formosa from a deeply personal and affectionate perspective, passing through important moments of his family, personal and professional life.
“BORN IN MY RIA FORMOSA”
“GROW IN MY RIA FORMOSA”
“LIVE IN MY RIA FORMOSA”
Part III
“OUR” RIA FORMOSA
(2 songs)
A tribute to this environmental heritage of enormous ecological, social, economic and scenic wealth. First the dialectic between the Ria’s fauna and flora and Man; and finally the awareness of the Ria Formosa as a WHOLE — a system that harmoniously encompasses all the parts that constitute it and behaves like a living organism, according to Gaia Theory.
“SHARE OUR RIA FORMOSA”
“PRESERVE OUR RIA FORMOSA”
What sets SAVE RIA FORMOSA apart:
- Scientific illustration woven into the graphics, producing content that joins the artistic and the scientific.
- 2D animation to carry the message and create the intended emotional effect — in a show with no narration and no subtitles.
- The sounds of the Ria Formosa, used not only as sound design but integrated into the composition process itself.
- Navigation by solar boat, both as an ecological choice and because it is the most suitable way to record and observe without disturbing.
- A professional film crew, shooting in 4K with drones and multicamera.
